As part of Government reforms to strengthen and refocus New Zealand’s science, innovation and technology system, the Ārohia Trailblazer Grant (ATG) and the supporting Ārohia Evidence Grant (AEG) programmes are closing.
Since their first funding round in 2023, these grants have provided $44 million in funding to 308 customers, supporting projects with potential to advance New Zealand’s innovation landscape and drive economic growth.
Originally administered by Callaghan Innovation, administration of the grants has transitioned to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). MBIE will honour all approved and contracted AEG applications, but there will be no further funding rounds.
The Government remains committed to supporting innovation and insights gained from the evaluation of these initiatives will feed into future opportunities to strengthen New Zealand’s science and technology ecosystem.
